Profile:

  • Runmin Cong (IEEE/CCF/CSIG/CIE Senior Member, ACM/APSIPA IVM Member) is currently a Professor with the School of Control Science and Engineering, Shandong University (SDU), Jinan, China. He received the Ph.D. degree in information and communication engineering from Tianjin University, Tianjin, China, in June 2019. Before joining SDU, he was an Associate Professor with the Institute of Information Science, Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing, China. He was a visiting student/staff at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, and City University of Hong Kong (CityU), Hong Kong SAR. His research interests include computer vision, machine learning, multimedia processing and understanding, saliency computation, remote sensing image interpretation and analysis, and visual content enhancement in an open environment, etc. He has published more than 100 papers in prestigious international journals and conferences, including 72 IEEE/ACM Trans/CCF-A papers, 2 ESI hot papers (Top 0.1%), 15 ESI highly cited papers (Top 1%), 21 papers were selected as IEEE Popular Documents, and 30 China patents have been authorized.   • Visual Content Enhancement in An Open Environment:
    Exploring various content enhancement issues in different environments, including the quality assessment/enhancement/restoration/super-resolution/reconstruction of low-light/haze/underwater/blurred/reflection/low-resolution/LDR image and video, etc.
  • Multimedia Big Data Understanding and Application:
    Exploring information processing and content understanding solutions for cross-media and cross-modal data, including referring image comprehension and segmentation, cross-media information retrieval, and visual question answering, etc.
  • Interpretation and Analysis of Remote Sensing Image:
    Exploring solutions for the classification, segmentation, retrieval, reconstruction, and detection of optical remote sensing images, hyperspectral images, radar images, UAV images, etc.
  • Advanced Machine Learning Theory and Methodology:
    Exploring machine learning related theories and practices, such as zero-shot/few-shot learning, self-supervised/weakly-supervised learning, continual learning, contrastive learning, meta learning, etc.
